Elderly man found dead in Buangkok flat after employer raises alarm over two-day absence
A 73-year-old man was found dead in his Buangkok flat on 20 June 2026 after his employer alerted police when he failed to report for work for two consecutive days.

A 73-year-old man was found dead inside his flat at Block 994A Buangkok Crescent on the evening of Saturday, 20 June 2026, after his employer raised the alarm when the man failed to report for work for two consecutive days.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed it received a call for assistance at 7.45pm. Officers found the elderly man unconscious in the unit on the 12th floor and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate no foul play is suspected. The case remains under investigation.
Police were present at the scene from around 7pm and investigations continued late into the night, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The employer, a man in his 30s, arrived at the block with his mother at around 5pm that afternoon to look for the deceased. According to a neighbour who spoke to Shin Min Daily News, the employer told her the elderly man had been his employee and had not shown up for work in two days.
The employer also said the man would telephone his mother every day without fail, but that these calls had stopped over the same two-day period. It is understood the employer subsequently contacted the police.
A female neighbour, who declined to be named, told Shin Min Daily News that the deceased had lived alone in the unit. She said she and her husband would occasionally cross paths with him in the corridor or near the rubbish chute, and that they sometimes glimpsed him watching television with his front door open.
Reflecting on the days before the discovery, the neighbour noted that the flat's door had been kept shut, that lights had remained on even during the daytime, and that she had not heard the usual sounds of him leaving or returning — such as the door opening or the turning of keys.
She added that the windows of the unit had been open throughout, but that no unusual odour was detected until police arrived and opened the front door. "I am pregnant and could not bear the smell — I had to keep my own door shut," she said.
The neighbour described the deceased as a quiet man with whom she had little interaction, but said she was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
